If you are new to homeschooling or need a complete package, you’ll want to check out the 2nd Grade Entire School Year Curriculum from Homeschool Easy.

What is the Homeschool Easy curriculum like?

Homeschool Easy offers a fully digital curriculum for grades 1st through 5th.  The entire grade curriculum can get downloaded all at once or as individual weeks as needed.  The curriculum is digital and mostly contains pdfs that you can print out for your child. There is a lesson guide for each week or section which has links to videos that cover the subject being studied. The curriculum includes Reading, Books, Math, Grammar, History, Science, and writing.

History contains 8 months of studies.  For second grade the curriculum covers American history and geography (World and US Geography.  The first week starts with a unit on Patriotism.  History covers early American history and then presidents all the way to modern-day.  All the video links are provided so you just click the link for the lesson and then have your child fill out the answers for the lesson.  A sample lesson is shown below.

Math has 32 weeks of lessons.  There is a pdf with all the answers and a worksheet for each lesson.  The picture below shows a sample of the math lessons.

For science there are lessons about landforms, Natural resources, motion, weather, dinosaurs, and plants and animals. Each subject has a list of youtube links to go along with the lessons. For example the science lessons on weather has links to videos about weather.  You can see the questions in the picture below.

I watched most of the videos about dinosaurs with my boys and they were pretty good and entertaining.  The questions were basic and seemed to skirt evolution.  Here is a sample for T-rex dinosaurs.

Reading, Grammar, and Books

For reading the curriculum is geared for those who are already reading at second-grade level.  There are reading guides for the recommended books.

The books to go along with the curriculum are from a website called With the curriculum, you get a membership to Wilbooks.

Here is a sample of one of the reading guides.

Grammar was pretty straightforward.  Here is a sample worksheet for a grammar lesson.

It is nice to have a whole curriculum.  I really liked the History lessons.  They were simple and easy to use. Some of the other subjects may be a little hard if your second grader is not a great reader but most students should have no problems.

If you ware are looking for a full curriculum that doesn’t require a lot of lesson planning then check out Homeschool Easy.  There are grades 1 through 5. If you are interested in another grade be sure to click on the picture below to see what other reviewers thought.

How we used Super Teacher Worksheets

The great thing about Super Teachers Worksheets is that I can use it with all of my school-age children.  I especially like to be able to use the phonics worksheets to help my son with his reading. There are so many worksheets to help with phonics!

Each phonics section has many different types of worksheets like the ones shown in the picture below:

I also used Super Teachers Worksheets for my son to work on sight word spelling lists. Here is a screenshot of one of the units he worked on.

One of the nice features of the Super Teachers Worksheets is the ability to organize worksheets in folders.  There are so many worksheets that I wanted to use with my different children so  I created folders to organize for each of my children and also subjects.  The screenshot below shows some of the folders I set up.  It is easy to file the worksheets to the different folders for easy access later.

The other feature I thought was useful is the worksheet generator.  You can generate math worksheets, games/flashcards, quizzes, and puzzles, My son likes puzzles so I generated the Cryptogram puzzle shown below.

Wow, there is no reason not to subscribe to Super Teacher Worksheets.  I definitely recommend subscribing to Super Teacher Worksheets! I cannot believe all the worksheets available for all of my children! Time Travelers World War II Review

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way.

Products like the Time Travelers U.S. History World War II Study from Home School in the Woods makes it easy to add hands-on history to our studies.  I was very excited to use this study with two of my boys.  Keep reading to see how it went.

What are Time Travelers U.S. History Studies

First, what is Home School in the Woods Time Traveler study?  Each study is a series of pdf’s that can be used for your history study of a particular time period or activities to supplement your history curriculum.  There are two basic activities that are provided with the study – A notebook and a Lapbook.  The notebook provides craft activities, copywork, a timeline, and short snippets of history in the study.  Most of the pdfs will require you to print out however there are also pdf lesson texts to go along with each lesson.  In total, the study I reviewed, World War II, had 25 lessons.

While we reviewed the World War II study, Home School in the woods has many other studies like Colonial life, Civil War that cover the standard US history periods. In addition to Time Travelers U.S. History Studies, there are numerous other studies available from Home School in the Woods.  For instance, now would be a great time to check out the U.S. Elections Lap-Pak which is studies the US elections which allows your student to follow along with the upcoming elections.

How we used Time Travelers U.S. History Studies

I was so excited to be able to review World War II study with my boys since they have been begging me to study World War II.  I also enjoy learning about World War II so it was also exciting for me.

There are numerous projects you can do with your students.  You can do as many or a few as you like.  We used the study as a unit study for World War II.  I really like the variety of projects provided by Home School in the Woods.  There were variations you could do that involve different amounts of work.  Since we are still working on cursive I chose to have my boys do the cursive copywork that was tracing as shown in the picture below.

Most of the projects involved printing and cutting out paper.  Your students can color the projects or you can just use colored paper when you print out the projects.  The timeline is especially helpful as you study different events.

Use on the iPad.

Initially, I was going to put all the lesson texts on the iPad so I could just read them from the iPad instead of my computer or printing off.  So I added some of the pdfs to my iBook library.

Then I could access the pdf’s from my iPad since my books are on iCloud.  (You may need to have later versions of iOS for this to work.)

I found out due to the iPad screen size and my eyesight getting worse that the texts were not as easy to read on the iPad.  This was due to not being able to increase the font size on the pdf.  It would have been nice if there was an iBook for all the text that could utilize increasing the text size.  What I did find worked well on the iPad was to put all the instructions for the projects on the iPad.  Then I could just pull up the instructions on the iPad for reference while my boys were working on the projects.  The picture below shows what one fo the project instructions looked like on the iPad.

Overall my boys and I loved the Time Travelers World War II study from Home School in the Woods.  We loved the projects and the lesson texts that you read for each lesson.  The only thing I didn’t like was all the different pdf documents but all the content and projects were excellent.  (The advantage to individual pdf’s is that you only need to download what you need to the iPad to minimize storage issues since there are a lot of pdfs with the study.) All the lessons were well organized so you could easily find what you needed for each lesson.  If you are looking for a History curriculum or projects to supplement your history curriculum I would highly recommend the time travelers series from Home School in the woods.

We reviewed the World War II study but others reviewed different Home School in the Woods studies. Click on the link below to read more Home School in the Woods reviews.
